Milwaukee Art Museum

I searched the Milwaukee Art Museum to see the permanent galleries and the changing exhibits close to home. I have gone there before but not recently so I wanted to see how things have changed. There is a new posters of Paris collection that look interesting but I prefer paintings or unique crisp photos.

I chose this piece of art because of the interesting movement that caught my eye. This shoes an interesting use of light and swirling shapes that I have learned from and hope to someday use in my art







I chose this next picture because of the use of black and white. I want to use this in my artwork and play with different shadows and close up images.

I visited the website http://arts.state.wi.us/static/ and there were a lot of cool grant opportunities. One that stuck out to me dealt with getting artists involved in the communty. I thought that was really special because it is important for people to see and understand the artist in their area and it is important for the artists to help those around them. A beautiful communty reflects better upon everyone living in it.

I chose to look at this picture because I like the feel of nature in artwork but this has an added piece of something a little different. I want to try to put a spin on things like this instead of always doing what is predictable.

I thought this painting was really interesting because it is so different from any of the pieces I have done. I like making it look very neat and precise but these brush strokes are bigger and less extact than what I am comfortable with. I would still like to experiment with different styles this year though.

I looked at the website http://www.portalwisconsin.org/ and there were many different opportunities coming up in many areas of art. Since I am most interested in painting I chose to look at that area of interest in visual arts and I was surprised to see all of the upcoming events that I didn't know about. Some of them are far away all around the state but there were many fairly close to Pewaukee also.
I chose this painting because it is very beautiful and I also have an interest in painting flowers. This looks like it would take so long with all of the details everywhere and I am impressed.
This painting is also of some flowers and I was even thinking of painting water lilies but I like this painting a lot because the style is realistic but a little different and I like the unique look. I want to try to develop my own look that not always exactly painting things as I see them.

This year I would like to try some new media that I have never used before. I've used acrylic paints and I want to continue with that but I would also like to try water colors. I like drawing as well as painting but I haven't had the chance to use it too much in my high school art classes. I like using charcoal and that would be interesting to do more because I've never used any colors before, instead it was always just black. I also want to try working in various sizes too.
